À propos
Art therapy for children provides a safe space where children can express their emotions through creative expression.
The therapeutic process consist in three phases, each with a specific focus and tailored to individual needs.
Phase I - The Opening Phase
Sessions 1 to 3
The first sessions focus on building trust and establishing a secure therapeutic relationship. Through art and play, the therapist explores the child’s emotional world. The child and parents are given an explanation of the structure of the therapy.
Phase II - The Middle Phase
Sessions 4 to 9
During this phase, the child begins to explore and process emotions and experiences that may be difficult for him or her to express. The therapist uses the child's play and metaphors to address those feelings. Parallel sessions with parents help them understand the child's underlying emotional needs, enabling them to support the child's emotional growth at home.
Phase III - The Termination Phase
Sessions 10 to 12
As therapy comes to an end, the child may experience feelings of sadness, anger, or loss. These feelings are addressed in a safe and supportive manner. The therapist and the child reflect on their progress, acknowledge the child’s strengths, and review the skills the child can use to manage their emotions and cope with future challenges.
***Therapy may consist of 12, 16, or even 40 sessions, based on each individual's needs.
