About

Art therapy for families provides a collaborative and supportive space where family members can strengthen relationships, improve communication, and work through challenges together.

The therapeutic process consist in three phases, each with a specific focus and tailored to individual needs.

Phase I - The Opening Phase

Sessions 1 to 3

The first sessions focus on creating a safe and welcoming space where all family members feel heard and respected. Together, the therapist and the family discuss the concerns that led them to seek therapy and identify a common issue or relational pattern to focus on throughout the process.

Phase II - The Middle Phase

Sessions 4 to 9

The family examines patterns that may make it difficult to express or manage deeper emotions. With the therapist’s support, family members learn to recognize and express difficult feelings—such as anger, vulnerability, or grief—in a safe and constructive way, rather than resorting to their usual patterns of conflict.

Phase III - The Termination Phase

Sessions 10 to 12

As therapy comes to an end, the family reflects on the progress they have made and the changes that have taken place in their communication and relationships. The therapist provides a space to discuss feelings related to the end of therapy. Together, family members identify new ways to communicate and connect that they can continue to use after therapy ends.

***Therapy may consist of 12, 16, or even 40 sessions, based on each individual's needs.
