EMOTIONS
PRIMARY EMOTIONS
Just as red, blue, and yellow are the primary colors, our emotional world is built on eight primary emotions:
Happiness Sadness,
Anger Fear
Disgust Acceptance,
Surprise Anticipation.
BIG EMOTIONS
Secondary colors like purple, orange and green are created by mixing two primary colors:
-
Red and Blue make Purple
-
Red and Yellow makes Orange
-
Blue and Yellow make Green.
Our emotions can work in similar ways.
When two primary emotions come together they create a secondary emotion.
-
Fear • Anticipation can lead to Anxiety.
When three emotions combine, they can give rise to more complex emotions.
-
Anger • Surprise • Disgust = Resentment
EMOTIONS IN COLORS
Sometimes, a feeling can be so intense
or complex that it’s hard to understand
or put into words.
One way to begin recognizing our emotions is to identify the primary emotions that lie beneath them. Just like mixing colors.
